When most people make New Year’s resolutions they tend to forget one important element…
…to celebrate all the achievements, growth and evolution they achieved in the previous year.
The truth is that we cannot build on what we do not recognize. That is, if we want to establish new goals and intentions for the year we are starting, we must first recognize and CELEBRATE what we have already achieved.
Every year, before setting goals for the new year, I review the year that just ended. I like doing this exercise because it helps me focus on what’s important, monitoring the lessons I learned from the previous year.
For me, it is especially useful to do this in the first days of January, because usually, after the festivities, I have some difficulty getting back into the usual rhythm and work routine. This exercise is a kind of supersonic plane that helps me quickly regain energy, strategic thinking, focus and motivation to face the new year.
Today I’m going to share with you part of the exercise I usually do to help you enter your 2023 in the best possible shape and celebrate your successes.
In a year, many things can happen – and we are also expected to forget most of them. This exercise will surprise you with everything you have achieved. So grab a notebook or your diary and start distilling the fantastic things you managed to create and achieve.
To help you structure this balance, try answering the following four questions:
- What professional achievement/achievement made you most proud this year?
- What gave you the most pleasure/joy this year in your personal life?
- What have you done for your physical health that made you most proud?
- What important thing did you learn or make you grateful?
You are fantastic!
I hope this exercise helps you remember that.
Here’s to a new year full of growth, adventure, and wonder at life!
